This dark blue suit looks like it stepped straight out of the pages of GQ and onto the streets of Juneau. I love Shawn Henderson's tailored clean lines. His subtly patterned, purple iridescent tie and pocket square also caught my eye and work perfectly with the dark blue. The black leather shoes, belt, and notebook anchor the look without trying. "'A man should look as if he has bought his clothes with intelligence, put them on with care and then forgotten all about them."-- Hardy Amiesn (Kerry Howard | For the Juneau Empire)

Rebecca proves that a genuine smile is a fashion statement. Add in bright colors, pearls and rolled down XtraTufs and you are ready to hit the trail in style. (Kerry Howard | For the Juneau Empire)

How to look modern and chic during a blustery outing at Sandy Beach. It was hard not to notice this handsome couple and dog. (Kerry Howard | For the Juneau Empire)

Mara Kyung Sheakley-Early at an informal, outdoors wedding. The black-and-white graphic, asymmetrical stripes of her dress really caught and held my eye. Her simple jewelry and sandals complete the look. A new mom, she’s holding her son Denali and with her husband David.(Kerry Howard | For the Juneau Empire)

Hannah hits the docks in style in XtraTufs and a flannel shirt — always a Juneau classic. What I like about her outfit is her simple checked flannel shirt paired with bold red and black accessories: a stylish hat, colorful vest, and neck scarf. Add a gray T-shirt, slim jeans, and rolled down boots for an eye-catching and confident look.(Kerry Howard | For the Juneau Empire)

Kole Loftin has a youthful, coordinated look from top to bottom. I like his black leather jacket and black boots, which were softened by light-colored blue jeans and a blue and white slouch hoodie. A wire-wrapped crystal on braided leather around his neck finished the look. Kole was en route to a local shoe store when he caught my eye. (Gina Vose | For the Juneau Empire)

The accessories — an embroidered hat, a bright scarf, floral bicycle basket and of course a little dog named Dexter — make this image. Anny Fyno rides her decorated commuter bicycle around Wrangell on a recent afternoon. Even Dexter is sporting a scarf. (Kerry Howard | For the Juneau Empire)

I saw Christian Malik on the docks and thought, "This is how to dress like a modern day James Dean." All you need are simple, practical clothes that look youthful. Start with straight leg, classic cut, dark blue jeans -- no rips or tears allowed. Add a simple T-shirt and work boots -- if they have a heel, even better. Next you'll need swept back hair and aviator sunglasses. Finally, we all know James Dean would have worn a black, leather jacket. But this was a cool sunny day in Juneau and Christian was visiting from San Miguel de Allende Mexico, so a modern puff jacket with upturned collar and fur hat, in hand, complete his look.
